As an educator, Christopher Wallace believes in challenging students to reach a high level of success. He teaches you how easy Metal Smithing can be with applied expert techniques, and how to be successful and create beautiful work in a short amount of time.

Because metal design is its own art form, your first metal project design ideas are provided for you. You can choose from Hetchin [bicycle] Lug designs, Hopi silver overlay pendents, bracelets, belt buckles, small boxes, necklaces, and gorget. A dozen designs are supplied for you to choose from for your first project. You will learn how to design and work from the concepts of masters to make your own unique work of art.

Tools and metal to start practicing will be provided in the first class, and you will need to acquire your own tool set and metals for your project. We'll refer you to a place where you can get everything you need. Tool sets are approximately $60 and the metal will vary in price, depending on what you choose and the size of your project.
You will learn a detailed overlay process, including how to work effectively with the saw, flux and solder and oxy-acetyline torch. Everyone will complete the class with a beautiful project.
The five session intensive will be held on each night, July 25-29, from 7 to 9:30 pm, (12.5 hours of class time). You will also need to practice a bit at home. Practice is important to your success; the more you practice the better your finished projects will be.
If you feel you would like additional practice time, we will be offering Open Studio with Christopher on some weekends, for an additional fee. If you need to make up a class, you can do so at this time at no charge.
Class registration fee is $300 and you must pre-register.
