A pro will teach your kid to shoot fantastic photos and put on their own show at a gallery in the Oak Park Arts District.
Our July 2011 Photography Intensive garnered an article in OakPark.com!
Christopher Wallace, a professional artist and photographer, will teach kids how to utilize the settings on their digital cameras to create great photos. They will learn the basics of setting up a great shot, how to make the most of lighting, and how to tell a story with their pictures. Their work will be evaluated using laptop computers and basic editing skills will also be covered.
The feature of this class is creating great photos by developing the creative eye and learning how to edit the photo before it is shot. When the Journal featured our July Camp online, they ran some of the photos, which were not edited or cropped.
Kids receive hands on experience in a variety of skills including:
Studio Portraiture
Self Portraiture
Environmental Portraiture
Texture Work
Botanical Studies
The class includes two field trips, one to the Oak Park Conservatory and the other to get their photos printed.
You must have your own digital camera with room on the chip, and charged, ready to go for the class.
Kids will also learn how to mount and create a photography exhibit, and friends and family are invited to attend their ‘opening’ at the conclusion of the last class.
